Do You Know the Way to San Jose?
Many good signs on the first day of this trip. My boarding pass was stamped TSA-precheck so I didn't have to stand in a long line. On the flight to Chicago,
I sat next to Carl, a high school speech teacher from Santa Ana, CA and Bradley University alum, who had returned to Peoria,
his college home town with a speech team. He was tired but happy after a busy three-day trip. The kids were hoping to see snow! It was a coincidence as on this trip, I will be visiting my college home town of Los Angeles.
Do You Know the Way to San Jose? Because that's where my next flight was going. I'm old enough to remember the song by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, performed by Dionne Warwick. I flew into the home of Silicon Valley because it was cheaper than San Francisco.
I then had a five and half hour drive to Arcata, my base for seeing the redwoods. I was pretty tired, so it helped to sing along loudly to the songs on the radio, including this one.
